Genealogy by the States – Week 14 – Vermont

Sunday, April 7, 2013 Posted by

This was suppose to come out on 4/7. I fell a little behind due to a new job and a few personal items.

This week’s blogging prompt is the State of Vermont. Blog about an ancestor or your families connection to Vermont. If you don’t have any connections to Vermont, find a Vermont resource useful for genealogy research to highlight and write about. This week’s prompt runs from 4/7/2013 – 4/13/2013. If you choose to follow along, I would appreciate a mention to the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website.

Although my family roots date back to colonial New England, I have surprisingly few relatives who have a connection to Vermont. A second cousin one time removed was married in Vermont in the 20th century. That is about all the direct connections I can find to Vermont in my ancestry. Since I’ve been unable to find more connections to Vermont, I thought I’d look for a few more links than normal.

Genealogy by the States – Week 12 – North Carolina

Sunday, March 24, 2013 Posted by

This week’s blogging prompt is the State of North Carolina. Blog about an ancestor or your families connection to North Carolina. If you don’t have any connections to North Carolina, find a North Carolina resource useful for genealogy research to highlight and write about. This week’s prompt runs from 3/24/2013 – 3/30/2013. If you choose to follow along, I would appreciate a mention to the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website.

———————————-
I do not have a whole lot of family connections to North Carolina. The ones which I’m aware of are 2nd cousins once removed. They were born in the 1980s, so presumably they are still living. Having to think about North Carolina and looking for family connections there has prompted me to to try to reconnect with that branch of the family. However, that is for a different time. Since there’s no family connections which I can find other than living relatives, I decided to find a North Carolina Genealogy Resource to highlight instead.

Sorry about the late post this week. I normally have these on autopilot waiting to go out a couple week in advance. This week I format to submit scheduled in WordPress.

The North Carlina Digital Heritage has a great collection of online digital records. Below are just a few of the online collections

If you have North Carolina roots, be sure to check out this site.
