Steve’s Genealogy Blog ia a blog I’ve been following for quite some time. It has received a number of awards including being named in the top 40 Best Genealogy Blogs by Family Tree Magazine. The blog posts started in April 2006 and there have been regular posts right up until June 2012. There have not been any recent posts, so I hope everything is all right with the blog owner.
In the past there have been many topics discussed on Steve’s Blog, from military to the census to city directories. There are hundreds of past blog posts and perhaps even more. I still find some archived articles which I haven’t read and which are very useful.
This Follow Friday’s pick is Genea-Musings . Genea-Musings is a large genealogy blog run by Randy Seaver which has been around for quite some time. I make it a point to check Genea-Musings daily to see what new topics have come up.
There are thousands of past blog posts and over 200 labels or categories. There is never a shortage of genealogy materials to read. According to the statistics published on the website, the site has had more than 1 million page views since 2008.
Past is Prolologue is a genealogy blog which has been around since at least January 2008. It was listed in Family Tree Magazine in May 2010 as one of the 40 Best Genealogy Blogs. I have been an avid reader of this blog for quite some time.
There are over seventy different categories and/or subcategories of blogs. I am particularly interested and love following the blog posts in the Photographs Category and Sub-Categories. One recent post featured a young women sitting on a bicycle. I’m not going to give away the ironic part of the photo, you’ll just have to visit the site, see the photo and read the caption. Once on the site though, you will need to be prepared to spend quite some time there exploring the various posts.
The Genealogy Blog may have a simple name for it’s blog type magazine. However, the blog topics and articles within it are wide ranging and very informative. There are more than 350 different categories of blogs listed.
I have been a regular reader of this blog and I’m surprised at how many unique articles they put out on a regular basis. Some recent article topics included “Delayed & Corrected Birth Records”, “Vermont State Archives opens court records for research” and “Mormon Gold”. Genealogy Blog might have just what you were looking for. However, you could end up spending an hour or two reading and browsing their website.
