Posted by on Sunday, 8 September, 2013

This week’s blogging prompt is the State of Nevada. Blog about an ancestor or your families connection to Nevada. If you don’t have any connections to Nevada, find a Nevada resource useful for genealogy research to highlight and write about. This week’s prompt runs from 9/8/2013 – 9/14/2013. If you choose to follow along, I would appreciate a mention to the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website.

My only link to the state of Nevada is through a second cousin one time removed. We both descend from John Charles Sanders and Mary Clark Tripp of New Britain, Connecticut. Since she may still be living and I have not been able to contact her, I will leave her name off of this post. She was married for the first time in 1948 in Reno Nevada.

My family connection to the state of Oregon is pretty remote but does exist. Darrel Brown was born in Oregon. He married Doris Sanders a second cousin once removed of mine. Doris and her family moved to California and I’m not sure what happened to that branch of the family. A first cousin once removed of mine had done some research and I believe contacted the family back in the 1970s. However, I’ve tried to locate descendants of this line on the West Coast to no avail.
