This week’s blogging prompt is the State of New Hampshire. Blog about an ancestor or your families connection to New Hampshire. If you don’t have any connections to New Hampshire, find a New Hampshire resource useful for genealogy research to highlight and write about. This week’s prompt runs from 3/3/2013 – 3/9/2013. If you choose to follow along, I would appreciate a mention to the Hidden Genealogy Nuggets website.

I do not have any ancestors directly connected to New Hampshire. Benjamin Joy is my 1st cousin 8 times removed we share a common ancestor of Joseph Foord. Joseph Foord was his grandfather and my eighth great grandfather.
Benjamin Joy was born as a British subject on the 10th on May in 1719 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts. His parents were David Joy and Ruth Ford, His future wife Sarah Cummings was born on the 11th of March in 1722 in Woodstock, Windham County, Connecticut. Benjamin and Sarah were married on the 10th of June in 1740 in Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.
Benjamin and Sarah would go on to have twelve children, ten of which would live until adulthood. They had four sons who would have been old enough to fight in the revolutionary war.
Benjamin’s wife Sarah died on the 26th of September 1803 in Plainfield, New Hampshire. Benjamin died on the 11th of March 1810. He lived to be 90 years old. They both died as American citizens.
