My family connection to the state of Oregon is pretty remote but does exist. Darrel Brown was born in Oregon. He married Doris Sanders a second cousin once removed of mine. Doris and her family moved to California and I’m not sure what happened to that branch of the family. A first cousin once removed of mine had done some research and I believe contacted the family back in the 1970s. However, I’ve tried to locate descendants of this line on the West Coast to no avail.

I do not have any links to Minnesota, so I will instead highlight one resource from Minnesota.

The Minnesota Historical Society has a wonderful collection of research tools on it’s website.

They have search tools for:

  • Birth Records
  • Death Records
  • State Census Records
  • Veterans Grave Registry

They also have digital collections of newspapers and maps.

If you have a Minnesota relative, be sure to check out these resources.

Raymond Leslie Sanders is my first cousin twice removed. He was born in New Britain, Connecticut on February 12, 1903. He was one of two children os Herbert Ephrain Sanders and Gertrude Stowe.

He was married on September 13, 1923 to Mary Goodwin in a double wedding ceremony with his father. The ceremony was his fathers second marriage. The marriage took place in Millerton, Dutchess County, New York. They went on to have three children.

By 1930, he and his growing family moved from the east coast of the United Staes to Los Angeles, California. He died in Lodi, California in May 1974. He is buried in Cherokee Memorial Park in California.
